Book Of Shadows

There is a longstanding tradition of witches carrying around their books of spells, rituals, incantations and other magical information, yet there is confusion about what exactly a grimoire is and how best to use one.
No matter how long you’ve been practicing witchcraft, you can benefit from keeping and using a grimoire.
What is a Grimoire....The simple definition is that a grimoire is a book that contains any kind of magical information. We have to use a simple definition because a witch’s grimoire is as unique as the witch who made it, just as each witch’s practice is unique. What is integral to one witch’s practice may not be to another, and therefore isn’t included in their grimoire. A grimoire can be made from a variety of different materials, it can be hundreds of “pages” long or only contain a couple of important “pages.” This book may be passed down from one generation to the next, or a witch may create a brand new grimoire for their own practice. Regardless of what the grimoire looks like or contains, it is special. It’s important for you to create a grimoire that is specific to your needs as a witch, your lifestyle and your magical practice. Otherwise, you are unlikely to use it. A grimoire becomes a recorded collection of the tales, myths, spells, magical correspondences, and ideas that resonate with you so that you can refer to it in the future. A grimoire is not necessary for one to be a witch, however many witches find it to be truly useful if not essential to their practice. It is a record of your practice, a journal of your deep thoughts, and a personalized encyclopedia of spells, correspondences and practical information.
Some witches keep more traditional grimoires with rituals, spells, and information that is important to the witch. There may be a record of the significant events from the life of the witch.
Some witches guard their grimoire carefully and only share with select people, while others publish their grimoire publicly online or in a book. There are no rules to how you keep your grimoire so long as it is special to you..Have fun, and enjoy the process of filling your special book of magic! Many Blessings J ❤

The Great Awakening???

There has been alot of talk and conversation on social media about August 27th and The Great Awakening and moving from 3D and into 5D...So as we approach this date I thought we should talk about it and what it all means...Well first and foremost as with all things spread on social media it's a viral phenomenon that has caught on and spread like wildfire, so when I looked into this I took it with a grain of salt as I'm always suspicious of where and how such things come from. As I researched this "Great Awakening" and the date August 27th,  I have discovered alot of talk about Manifestation, and a shifting of consciousness as well as ascending from the current state of 3D and into a 5D as there's a closing of a portal and a specific time allotted to change your timeline. If you miss it then you will be stuck and doomed to repeat old patterns.
Now....as I ponder this date and all of this information I cant help but think...The ability to manifest is always within you...Manifestation also works alongside the Law of Attraction, a universal rule which dictates that thoughts can become things. Your thoughts hold immense power, and you attract whatever it is you think
about....Simply put its the ability to believe in something so strongly that you create and send it into the universe....So then the question becomes will there be an ascension and a shift within myself from the 3D version of myself to the enlightened 5D better version of myself and what happens if I miss the one chance to change my timeline...I truly believe that there is NO date that should tell you when your personal "ascension" should happen! Our lives are personal journeys with life lessons meant to be learned in our OWN time! The veil is always thin and we are constantly changing our timelines as life throws curve balls at us every chance it gets...it's not ascension from 3D to 5D on a specific date at a specific time that should concern us...what should concern us all at the end of the day is ...what we have learned so far in this life and what we are going to do to continue growing in our own truths and in our own time...without the fanaticism of August 27th looming over us

Making A Magical Home

Using witchcraft to ensure that your space is always positive and has good energy can improve the quality of the time you spend there, help you unwind more easily, and give you a place of stillness in the midst of the chaos of life....Creating a magical sanctuary can also help to keep you in tune with your craft. Modern life is crazy and if you feel like you’re too busy to keep up with chores, there’s a good chance you’re feeling some overwhelm when it comes to your craft ... Start small working on one room is enough to get the ball rolling. It can be your kitchen, bedroom, living room, any room that you spend a decent amount of time in.... *It isn’t necessary to do a huge cleaning and wear yourself out, doing a little bit here and there can make a substantial improvement over time and you’ll be a lot more likely to continue maintaining your home instead of getting worn out and giving up....
.

*Here are a few ideas to get you started...
.

*Place a candle on the stove to symbolize the traditional hearth fire..
.

*Make a magic welcome mat that draws in good company and keeps away the bad..

*Pay close attention to the sort of energy your decor creates and adjust it to help create the energy you want in your home...

*Playing music and changing the scent in a room can suffice for a quick energetic shift. Try setting a small pot of water with cranberries, orange peel, cinnamon or mint on the stove to simmer....
.

*Bake bread...This really falls more under the heading of kitchen witchcraft but the smell of baking bread (or cookies!) Flowing through your home can alter the energy in lovely ways and it’s also great for bringing prosperity to the house....
.

*Cleaning your house can be turned into more than just house magic. You can visualize yourself sweeping away worries or scrubbing old habits that aren’t serving you away as well....

.

*Plant A Garden...
It does not have to be big...it could be a few containers on the porch, it could be herb pots on your kitchen counter or a small unused area in your backyard. Spending time growing your own food and using it in the kitchen is sheer magic!!

The Feast Of Hecate August 13th

.
.
Hecate’s Feast was celebrated every lunar month by the Athenians of Ancient Greece. For example, they did so during the New Moon before the first sliver of moonlight was visible in the night sky. They also showed her reverence during their last meal of the day.

*Hecate's Feast:
Once a month, during the Dark of the Moon, they ate foods that honored Hecate. For the most part, this meal was the last of the day, was called the Deipnon. Many foods commonly associated with Her are raw eggs, leeks, garlic, onions, pomegranates, mushrooms, red mullet and fish roe.....
.
.
*After the meal, Hecate’s Feast food offerings were carried to the designated crossroads or shrine. Generally, these places were kept in Her Honor and for lost souls of those unavenged or unready to die.
.
.
*Consequently, here they could nourish themselves on their long journey out of Hades.
.
.
*Some of the other offerings left at shrines, altars, and crossroads are:

Graveyard dirt
.
Statues, and art of Her
.
Black Stones and other gems
.
Black Feathers especially those of a Raven or Crow
.
.
Snakeskins
.
.
Dog hair
.
.
*Being known as a protector of children, women, and the oppressed, Hecate waits and watches.
.
.
*As The Queen of the Night, She can see what others cannot. She knows what others fear to bring out into the light. She waits there at the crossroads for those in need of Her, in service to all who seek Her there.

So Much Beauty In One Word

One Witchy Conversation

Honestly I feel like this is more of what we need...to sit down with younger witches and share our experiences and pass down our wisdom...I also believe we have things to learn from the up and coming witches as well...they need to find their way just as we did...both sides need to hear what the other is saying...and share it over a cup of tea!! It takes just as much wisdom to listen as it does to speak it...

Spells, Candle's, Rituals Oh My!!

There is so much discussion be it a constant dialogue between Witches or simply an internal dialogue within, of connectivity to our craft. Alot of emphasis is placed on the ritual aspect and how this spell works or how that candle color should be dressed in these herbs or what should we put in jars for blessings vs hexing. However what is truly at the heart of the matter is this...The Truest form of Witchcraft comes from within and this is what makes us Witches...The connection we have with the Goddess and the Divine is the essence of who we are, putting aside ego and being open to hearing the messages and seeing the direction we are being guided towards is essential to propel us into growing and becoming the Witches we were always meant to be... None of that is possible if we are not allowing her in and standing in our own way....spells, candles, rituals all of these things are a means to an end and an  intricate part of witchcraft which keeps things in alignment, But... one without the other does not a Witch make! Protection Jars

A protection spell jar is one of the easiest beginner-friendly, witchy tools to make and a great way to protect yourself, your home and your loved ones from negative energy.
A protection spell jar is a spell you cast on a magickal jar, you are going to make it with suitable ingredients, to send protection and safety your way, while cleansing yourself and those around you from any negativity or magick attacks.
A protection spell jar is your special ally when it comes to dealing with negativity, in an easy and effective way.
You need a one when you no longer feel safe if you think someone has cast an evil eye spell on you or someone special to you when you feel negativity is taking over in your life and you cannot see the light at the end of the tunnel.
If you feel a heaviness on your chest, you don’t feel safe, if you sense something in your life does not feel right, or even if you are sure someone you know is casting spells over you preventing you from living your best life, the protection spell jar is the best option you have.
There is not a specific day of the week that is better than another. Make it when you want and when you are ready to commit to this kind of craft.
It is not difficult to make a protection spell jar. Follow these steps and you will have the perfect jar for you, to manifest your goals and let protection pervade into your life.
*Choose a small sealable jar...It doesn’t matter about the size or shape of this jar, provided it is sealable, as you are going to put all of the ingredients in the jar.
*Write your intentions.. on a small sheet of paper and place it at the bottom of the jar. This is an important step and I prefer doing it the following way. I write my intentions on one side of the paper and on the other side, I draw a protection sigil.

*Add your ingredients ... Here are a few that I like and use alot in my practice...

  • Salt (It cleanses any negative energy)
  • Chamomile (It creates soothing relaxing vibes and positive energy)
  • Lavender (It brings relaxation and peace)
  • Sage (It cleanses negativity and helps you restore safety and inner calmness)
  • Bay Leaf (A powerful herb to shift energy from bad to good)
  • Rosemary (Amazing for a good night’s sleep without nightmares)
  • Cinnamon (It brings protection)
  • Rose Petals (Turn hate into love)

You can choose one, two, or three of these ingredients according to the kind of protection you would like to bring in your life.

The most important thing is to create a base, that is made up of salt at the bottom of the jar and then, simply choose the best herbs for you and for your specific situation.

It doesn’t matter about thequantity as long as you feel comfortable and you can fill the jar completely.

*Finishing it

Once the jar is filled with the ingredients, place a white candle on the top of the jar’s lid

First, light the white candle and let the wax drip onto the lid, to create a base, so you can then place your candle in it, to anchor the candle to the lid of the jar. Then, let it burn until the candle is completely consumed.

*Place it under your bed or choose a hidden place in your house...

When you are done, and the candle has created a good seal on the top of the jar, you can place the jar in the place you have chosen. For personal protection, I prefer placing it under your bed.

To protect a loved one you can place it on top of a closet in his/her room, or to protect your house you can choose a hidden place like in a wardrobe, in a pantry, in a box placed in the living room.

It really doesn’t matter as long as nobody can see the jar.

*Use the energy of the full moon to cleanse negativity..

Your protection spell jar is like a magnet for negativity, so it needs to be cleansed every once in awhile...I prefer to place it under the light of the full moon every month, to cleanse all negativity gathered and to have it ready to protect me, my house, or my loved ones for the upcoming month.

*When will it start working...

Actually, very quickly. It starts gathering negative energy from the moment it is made, it will take a while to gather it all, especially if you are under a black magick attack...but it will gather it all eventually.

This will enable you so that you can cleanse yourself, banish negativity and attract more positive energy to you again.

Many Blessings J

The Magical Days Of The Week

Magical Correspondences for the Days of the Week...
The days of the week also have their own unique magical energies, and each day is linked to a certain planet and to certain deities....
.
.
*Sunday...Sunday is, of course, connected to the Sun and solar deities. Sunday is the best day of the week for any manifestation magic that needs an extra boost. Its energy is also associated with healing, personal growth, power, and success.
.
.
*Monday.... Monday is associated with the Moon and lunar deities. Monday is a quiet, introspective day, and can feel very ethereal. It’s the best day for magic related to intuition, nurturing, and shadow work.
.
.
*Tuesday. Tuesday is associated with Mars and with gods and goddesses of war and action. (It is named for the Norse/Germanic god Tyr/Tiw.) Tuesday is a very “active” day, and is good for magic related to action, activism, victory, or finding courage.
.
.
*Wednesday... Wednesday is associated with Mercury and with gods and goddesses of wisdom, learning, and communication. (It is named for the Norse/Germanic god Odin/Wodan.) Wednesday is all about mental activity. It’s the best day of the week for magic related to thought, travel, communication (written, spoken, or digital), and learning/study.
.
.
*Thursday... Thursday is associated with Jupiter and with gods and goddesses of prosperity, wealth, and protection. (It is named after the Norse/Germanic god Thor.) Thursday, like Jupiter in astrology, is all about outward expansion. It’s the best day of the week for magic related to career, prosperity, and wealth.
.
.
*Friday... Friday is associated with Venus and with gods and goddesses of love, fertility, and sensuality. (It is named after the Norse goddess Freyja, or perhaps the goddess Frigg.) The energy of Friday is fun, lighthearted, and sexy. It’s the best day of the week for magic related to love, beauty, and sex/sexuality.
.
.
*Saturday... Saturday is associated with Saturn and with time and wisdom. (The day and the planet are both named after the Roman god Saturn.) Saturday is practical and wise, but it does have a little bit of a dark side. It’s the best day of the week for magic related to banishing and protection.

Using What We Have

So much witchcraft emphasizes how important it is to honor and work with the Earth, but then teaches us spells with ingredients we basically have to import using locations we don’t have access to....It’s rare to find an existing grimoire or guide book that actually works with where we live. We can still use them, but it doesn’t enhance our connection to our local land, which to many can feel important....Here are some tips for localizing your practice and working with the land you actually live on....
.
.
See what nature exists around you. Explore your own backyard with a critical eye. What plants can you actually go and pick yourself? What are those plants associated with? Do you have access to a creek or river? What does your local land actually have on it? If magic correspondences for your local plants haven’t been written about, you may have to do your own research.
.
.
Research local folklore, legends, etc. This is one of my favorite parts, but can also be the hardest. What are the stories of your area, both on a local and cultural scale.
.
.
Find the magic spots to ground yourseld... Sometimes the urban legends will tip you off to these...but other times you can find them on your own.  A place you can go to be closer to nature, or a place you could host a ritual if needed. Sometimes it’s just a place where you can feel your mind open and become centered.
.
.
Check in with your Seasons. Harvest holidays generally don’t have actual lifestyle importance to most people reading this. The seasonal shifts other people write about may be from a very different climate than yours! Figure out a calendar that works for you. It doesn’t have to be detailed, but something that ties you to the seasons as you actually experience them.

The Sun and Moon

Tell me the story about how the sun loved the moon so much he died every night just to let her breath...
.
.
*The sun is seen as male and bestows us...Air (Cloud), Community (Family), Fire (Ash), Glory (Honor), Healing (Restoration), and Sun (Day).
.
.
*The moon is seen as female, and bestows us...Charm (Captivation), Darkness (moon), Knowledge (Thought), Madness (Insanity), and Travel (Trade)
.
*A great deal of emphasis is placed on the moon in modern witchcraft.
Many nights we gaze up at the twilight and wait for the wavering, milky white lunar body to appear so that we might harness its power.
.
*This cycle of the moon as a anchoring symbol in spell work is so ingrained in our thinking that we tend to forget the sun’s energy can be used in a similar way.
.
*Take advantage of the sun’s powerful summer energy and try one of these ideas for working with the solar cycles.
.
*Harness the energy of sunrise, noon and sunset...
.
*Sunrise is an excellent time to address matters like new beginnings, money-drawing and fertility.
.
*The afternoons work well for charging and power raising.
.
*Sunset is ideal for things like elimination and binding.
.
*Chase away the blues...Sun magic is  perfect for addressing the spiritual side of sadness, anxiety and nightmares.
.
*Charge your tools...
If you’re in between full moons, use the sun’s energy to charge and cleanse your tools.
Particularly useful for spell items you intend to use in happiness magic, creativity and to dispel darkness.
.
I thought it would be fun to take a look at a few folklore and legends associated with  the sun...
.
*In some folkloric traditions, babies born at sunrise are considered special – they will be blessed with a long and prosperous life.
.
*In the Appalachian mountains, there’s a superstition that if you sweep your home after the sun has set, you’re doomed to live a life of poverty. There are also weather legends connected to the sun – if the sun shines during a rainstorm, that means it will rain again at the same time the next day. A red sunrise means that rain is coming soon.
.
*pyramids around the globe are aligned to the sun’s position during the summer and winter solstices.
